The Power of Child Sponsorship
A powerful story of faith, child sponsorship, and hope through Compassion International.
Discover how giving, even when you have little, can transform lives and reflect God’s heart.
There are moments in life when you realize that what you have to give doesn’t feel like much.
And yet… it matters more than you think.
I’ve seen this firsthand.
Not just in my own story, but in the life of someone I had the privilege of sitting with… a girl who grew up in poverty in the Philippines and whose life was completely changed because someone, somewhere, decided to say yes to sponsorship.
They didn’t necessarily have extra, but what they did have was obedience.
And that one decision shifted everything.
She received education, opportunity… but even more than that, she received hope.
Words spoken over her through letters became anchors in her identity. Simple little things that we might often overlook…. But to Kiwi, they were life-changing. They helped her begin to see herself the way God sees her.
That’s what child sponsorship does.
It’s not just financial support, but it’s also….
A spiritual investment
An encouragement
A reminder to children that they are seen, known, and deeply loved
And if I’m honest, my journey with giving didn’t start from abundance either. I understand what it feels like to not have much.
There have been many points in my life where choosing to give didn’t make sense on paper. It felt like I couldn’t afford it (or I literally couldn’t). But I also knew something deeper… that trusting God with what I had mattered more than holding tightly to it.
And I’ve seen this truth play out over and over again:
God can do more with what we place in His hands than we can do trying to control it ourselves.
Giving became an act of trust… not because I had extra, but because I believed that God is faithful.
This is what makes sponsorship so powerful:
It’s not about having a surplus or abundance while expecting something in return…. it’s about giving God your best, and your “yes.”
“Yes”... to being a part of someone else’s story.
“Yes”... to reflecting God’s heart for His children.
“Yes”... to believing that even what feels small can create a life-lasting impact.
Because it does.
It changes lives… both theirs and yours.
If this is stirring something in you, I want to invite you to take a step of obedience.

You’ve got this.
pray with me
Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that You use even the smallest acts of obedience for Your glory. Help us to trust You with what we have, to give with open hands, and to reflect Your love to those who need it most. Lead us in how to respond, and give us hearts that are willing to say yes.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
